In nature, I can feel an immense joy and awe, and at times, a deep wonder and grief. Nature is one of the only places where my nervous system can fully feel itself through the world, without much thought. I am able to truly feel that my soul is expansive.

With that, I have turned my mother’s balcony into my own nature sanctuary/bird haven. They can get food and a bath all in one stop lol One bird (cape may) visited that I have never before seen in the yard. I screamed, called my mother (as she internally deep sighed but mustered all the excitement she could), and then took some pictures.

We are coming to the end of spring migration for the birds 😦

Here are the birdies I spotted in the backyard:

Cape May Warbler

-Only in Georgia/east coast during migration

On my walk:

(Female) Hairy woodpecker

There is a park in Atlanta that I love to visit so here are some pictures:

(Not sure if this is a muskrat or a beaver???)

Great Blue Heron

To my favorite, the Pileated Woodpecker:

Gray Catbird

I am amazed at my own curiosity with these birds while also feeling quite invigorated by the constant change (I can have a challenging time with that) that occurs in their environment. With being outdoors, I am reminded of the stillness, resiliency, and change that is always available to me.

Thank you for reading and looking 🙂
